Resetting Your Gut Health (especially after a holiday!)

Hey everyone, we're back from an amazing trip to Cape York! I can't wait to share all the fun details during your next adjustment with us. While we had a fantastic time, like many of you, our eating habits took a bit of a hit during the holiday. We indulged in more carbs, processed foods, and alcohol than usual.

With the next quarter's focus being on "Eat Well," I want to share three strategies I'm implementing over the next couple of months to reset my gut health. Hopefully, these tips will inspire you to join me on this journey to better health.

1. Clean Eating: Simplify Your Diet

The first step I'm taking is to cut out alcohol, sugars, dairy, and processed foods. Instead, I'll be focusing on consuming simple, clean foods like fruits, vegetables, meats, and eggs. These nutrient-dense options provide the necessary vitamins and minerals our bodies need without the added junk. Simplifying your diet can have a profound effect on your gut health, helping to reduce inflammation and improve digestion.

2. Boosting Probiotics: Sauerkraut and Water Kefir

Probiotics are essential for maintaining a healthy gut flora. To increase my probiotic intake, I'm incorporating foods like sauerkraut and water kefir into my daily routine. A tablespoon of sauerkraut or a shot glass of water kefir each day is all it takes to start repopulating your gut with beneficial bacteria. These fermented foods are natural sources of probiotics and can help improve digestion and boost your immune system.

3. Intermittent Fasting: Extend Your Fasting Window

Lastly, I'm extending my fasting window to 16-17 hours a day. Intermittent fasting can be a powerful tool for resetting your gut flora and promoting autophagy, a process where your body cleans out damaged cells and regenerates new ones. This not only aids in gut health but also enhances overall cellular health, potentially leading to increased energy levels and better metabolic function.

If you’re curious about trying these methods or have any questions, feel free to ask during your next visit. I’m excited to see the positive changes these adjustments bring and look forward to supporting you on your health journey.

By focusing on these three strategies, we can take significant steps toward improving our gut health. Remember, small changes can lead to big results. Join me in this journey to a healthier gut, and let’s make the next quarter our healthiest yet!
