Why is Tummy Time so important?

Tummy time is more than just playtime—it's a crucial part of your child's development!

Regular tummy time helps strengthen your baby's neck, shoulder, arm, and back muscles, paving the way for milestones like rolling, sitting, and crawling. But keep an eye out for signs of poor development: if your little one hates being on their tummy and cries, or if they hyper-extend and arch their back and neck a lot when face down or seated, it might be time for a check-in with your chiropractor. Early intervention is key to tracking on normal childhood developmental milestones. As well as checking the spine and hips and adjusting where necessary, we often give out simple exercises you can do to engage your baby more in their tummy time, and help them develop those extensor muscles.
